Invited Talk on Review of Integration from Newton to Lebesgue to Henstock
Invited Talk by an International Expert
Department of Mathematics organized a talk by Prof. Dhandapani Kannan, Professor Emeritus, Department of Mathematics, University of Georgia, Athens, U.S.A , on the topic ‘Review of Integration from Newton to Lebesgue to Henstock’ on 10th January 2019. Integrated M.Sc. and M.Sc. Students, M.Phil and Ph.D scholars got benefited from the session. The talk was fruitful and like a stepping stone to the field of Advanced Integration Techniques for the graduates. It was an edifying experience for all students alike and gave an insight into the transformation from Riemann to Lebesgue integration. Limitations of the Riemann integral and the greater scope offered by the Lebesgue integral were discussed. This discussion presumed a working understanding of the Riemann integral and the need for a better approximation technique.
